Company Review: Bum Boosa Bamboo Bathroom Tissue

Company Review: Bum Boosa Bamboo Bathroom Tissue in business since 2009

I found out about this company when I attended Expo West, March 2013 in Anaheim, CA. I was handed a flyer and added it to the rest of the materials and samples I received. I always “sift” through everything I take, to see if it will “qualify” for me to try/review them. Before I do anything, I read through the materials given about the product, read more information on the website and then, if necessary, call the company if I have more questions I need answered. Once I see that the product and company lives up to the high standards, integrity and purity that I expect, I am willing to do a review.

I am not merely a “spokesmodel” that represents a product and can sell it because of my name/fame without a clue as to what I am selling to the public. I am a real person who has “extremely high” expectations and standards for what I eat, drink, wear, household products I use and what I put on my skin/body. In addition, with some of the companies/products I’ve reviewed on my blog, I have had a long standing relationship before contacting them for a review and/or interview (I know who they are and how they conduct their business).

When I read about this company from their flyer, I was really “excited” because I never heard of products like this. I have bought bamboo clothing and earrings in the past, but never bamboo bathroom tissue. I read up on it more and contacted the company to send me some product to test out. Thanks, Bobby for your willingness to have me review your bathroom tissue.

Now, before I get into my review of Bum Boosa, I want to talk about the “commercial/mainstream” products that the mass population purchases with Zero knowledge of the damage they are causing themselves because of their ignorance. I am not saying the public isn’t smart, but some are only going to purchase what is the least expensive/generic even if it’s the ideal/best for them. Honestly, some people are “cheap” when it comes to their health, but will spend unlimited amounts of money on their cars, phones, computers, TV’s, clothing, shoes, etc. None of the things mentioned with give you longevity or make your heart or muscles strong and vital.

Now back to bathroom tissue, there are many products out there, such as Charmin, White Cloud, Cottonelle, etc. If you are still reading this, then you must be interested in a better option, if not, then go back to using what you want with no concerns. Otherwise, lets talk about the most ideal and best available product I have found called Bum Boosa Bamboo Bathroom Tissue (ok, now try to say that fast 10 times and see if all the words get jumbled ;-). I received my samples on August 8, 2013 and have been using it for the past few days and I am already a Big Fan! First, it is super soft, more then I thought it would be. It is also the only 3-ply bathroom tissue I have ever used and there is nothing else like it on the market. I found that I need to use less of the product then with the 2-ply.

Also, it is important to remember that you are using a product on a sensitive area of the body and with all the commercial products you are causing chemicals from them to go in through the skin and the private area. Then you many wonder why years later you have some health issue in that region, but don’t relate it to the years of using certain products that are known to be toxic. Also children are more sensitive then adults and they absorbs toxins much more easily as their immune systems aren’t strong and developed as adults. It is important for families to start using the safest products from when their babies are born and not wait till they have an irritation and then need a product to counteract it and likely that will be not be natural and cause even more problems. All this could be avoided if you made the right choices from the beginning.

Besides my experiences, this product has so many pluses/positives benefits to you and the environment:

1- Biodegradable option that is TREE-FREE
2- Renewable and sustainable
3- BPA-free
4- Hypoallergenic
5- Synthetic fragrance-free/Dye-free
6- Elemental chlorine-free
7- Bamboo is a grass that grows rapidly and produces fully mature plants in a very short life-cycle compared with trees harvested for pulp
8- Bamboo sourced from FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) suppliers

So what’s the big deal about bamboo? It is 100% renewable and sustainable, even better then recycled. To read more in detail about bamboo go to:

Company Review – Fresh Wave: Natural Odor Eliminator

Fresh Wave – Natural Odor Eliminator in business since 1990

There are a lot of companies claiming to eliminate odors, but merely ‘mask’ them. They also may be using harsh toxic chemicals and perfumes in their products. Those of you who are using the ‘Tree’ that you hang in your car, I do not recommend you ever use it. It is made with chemicals and unlike a spray, the toxic scent is continually coming out and you are constantly breathing it in, especially if you keep you windows shut, then no air is circulating and it envelops you continually. It may not show up as a problem in your body initially, but long-term it is likely to affect your health. Also the plug-in air fresheners (like the brand Glade) continually release the chemicals in the air so you are always breathing it in. The goal is to use a product that will not have any negative affects on you (if you have chemical sensitivities, asthma or other lung issues, are pregnant, a young child or a senior then you are likely to have adverse reactions to ‘conventional’ products). Be wary and proactive in your choices because it isn’t only affecting you, but also the environment.

If you are a hard-core label reader, like I am, then make sure you read the ingredients and heed my advise.
1- if you can’t pronounce an ingredient, Don’t Buy It!
2- if you don’t know what the ingredient is, Don’t Buy it!
3- if there are too many ingredients, it is likely to not be ‘natural,’ Don’t Buy It! (there are some exceptions, for example the company, 100% Pure, that I reviewed in a previous blog post, has numerous ingredients in their pruducts that are all botanicals and you have heard of the ingredients such as aloe vera juice, jojoba oil, shea butter, etc)

When I was interested in reviewing some products from this company, Fresh Wave, I first wanted to know what ingredients are in it. I read through there website online and the contents are all natural – water and natural extracts of lime, pine needle, aniseed, clove and cedarwood. There is NOTHING from that list that is even remotely toxic to the body. You may not like the scent of things like pine needle, but it will not cause you harm. I know for me, I had to get used of the smell initially and now I like it. To me it smells very fresh and natural while absorbing/eliminating the odors such as in automobiles, bathrooms, diaper pails, musty basements, pets, etc.

The two products I tested are the spray and the crystal gel. The Fresh Wave Spray comes in 2oz travel size, for the home in 8oz and also a 32oz refill container. This spray will rapidly target and eliminate the odors and is non-aerosol (environmentally friendly). You can spray it in the air and also use in your running shoes, on car seats, upholstery, etc. Sometimes I have my door open and I smell an odor from the neighbors apartment coming in to my place, so I grab the spray and with a few mists the odor is completely gone.

The Fresh Wave Crystal Gel also comes in various sizes and a large refill container. It works differently then the spray as it continuously neutralizes the odor. The smell is more suttle then the spray that quickly releases it into the air. You remove the lid, discard the inner seal and replace the cover. It will work around the clock as the airflow activates the unscented odor control gel for the entire room. The Crystal Gel is great for pet areas, boats, attics, etc and lasts 30-90 days depending on ambient (surrounding) air flow. Then you can refill/replace the container when it gets low. I am using this product in my bathroom so it is continually working for me, even when I am not in there and always smells fresh and clean.

There are other products in the Fresh Wave line, including Carpet Shake, Vacuum Pearls, Pearl Packs, Soy Candles, Pet Shampoo, Fresh Wash, etc. They are all made in the USA and safe for humans, pets and the environment. You can read more about all the odor eliminating products on their website and purchase it online or find out what stores in your area carry their products. I have included a link on the right-hand side of the page by scrolling down to the column titled Blogroll.

Company Review: Natural House – Natural Household Cleaning Products

Natural House: Natural Household Cleaning Products – Glassy Probiotic Glass Cleaner In business since 2011

In my continual search for the best and purest products on the market in the natural product industry, I found out about this company in the magazine, Natural Food Merchandiser. I did not see them at Expo West this past March, as there is so much to see and sometimes you miss things. I am glad to have found them through my diligent reading of NFM. I contacted the company to see about getting products for review on my blog. I signed up with the company to be a blog reviewer of their products. That is how I am now doing a review for Glassy Probiotic Glass Cleaner.

I started using Glassy as soon as it came in the mail, as I wanted to see the results/benefits for myself that the company “claims” about this product. First, I tried it on my mirrors. There was no residue afterwards and no streaks once I wiped it off. With other products I have had the streaking problem. The smell was mild and not overbearing, like the toxic smells you find with conventional cleaning products on the market. I don’t ever use any of those because I am environmentally conscious and also because when you spray any product it is taken in to your body through you nose and goes into your lungs. I am very sensitive to smells and also want to protect myself from absorbing any toxicity into my body that I have control over.

I also used Glassy on my tile in the bathroom and kitchen with great results. My tile looks better then it ever has and I will continue to use it on a regular basis. The scum and dirt that built up on the tile in my shower is gone. This glass cleaner is revolutionary to the natural cleaning products industry. No one has ever used probiotics in their products that continue to consume germs on the surface(s)’ even after you are done cleaning. I love the fact that this product can be used on multiple surfaces (glass, tile, marble, finished hardwood, etc.) I have not done so, as yet, but will try it on my tile floors, too.

I look forward to reviewing their other natural cleaning products on my blog. This is how I will let my readers know, through my expertise/knowledge, of the products that are good for the people and for the planet.

Natural House is on Facebook and Twitter and you can follow them there (link on their website).
If you are interested in learning more about this company and their products, there is a link to their website on the right-hand side of this page under the title Blogroll. You can purchase all Natural House’s natural cleaning products, including Glassy, on their website or Amazon.

Company Review: Bio Bag – compostable non-GMO trash, produce, dog waste, lawn/garden bags

Bio Bag-certified compostable, non-GMO trash, produce, dog waste, lawn, leaf and garden bags (formerly PolarGruppen AS started producing compostable plastics in Norway in 1993)

I met Jennifer Wagner at Expo West a few years ago and immediately liked the products, especially since no other company was providing the public with this option. I took home some samples to try and have been using them ever since. You can read my Q & A interview with Jennifer Wagner on a previous blog post with the main heading of: People, Products and the Health of our Planet

The parent company is located in Europe, specifically, Norway. I did not know that till this year when I saw Jennifer at Expo West. They have many great products for your pets, garden and even an option for a portable toilet using their compostable bags. They are working on some new products that I am really excited to share with you (they are not out on the market as, yet, but I saw the prototypes for them) and will be BIG for all of us that are looking for an alternative that you don’t have to throw in the trash. The 2 new items are plastic wrap and zip-lock bags (that are not made of plastic, but non-GMO certified compostable materials). Right now the issue is the cost for making the products and how to be able to bring it to the consumer without it being cost-prohibitive.

BioBag is on a mission that is now almost 20 years strong and continues to lead the way in finding better sources for materials that can be used for everyday products. I am thrilled for the future, knowing that they are having a substantial positive impact for the people and the planet.

Please check out the link for this company on the right-hand side of this page under the heading of Blogroll.

Q and A Series: People, Products and the Health of Our Planet – Interview with Jennifer Wagner of BioBag

For the sixth interview, I have the pleasure of introducing you to Jennifer Wagner, Marketing Manager at BioBag. I first met Jennifer at the Natural Products Expo in Anaheim, CA a few years ago. I liked the compostable bags they had and I took some home with me to use along with information about the product. I use them at home for my food scraps and then bury them in the earth in the bag. What a great concept! To have bags that are not made of chemicals and that will break down, as well. You can use the produce bags to put your food in when you go shopping so you will not have any plastic on your food. If you have dogs (large and small), they also have waste bags. In the past couple of years the Expo in Anaheim (which is the largest in the world for the natural product industry), has been using their bags for all the trash cans at each booth and also as liners for the tables. That says a lot, to me, about the quality of product they are creating and also the good it is doing for the environment.

To access BioBag’s Website, please click on the link I have provided on the right-hand side of the page under the column titled Blogroll.

Question #1: Tell me briefly about yourself and why you decided to get involved in the “health” industry?

My name is Jennifer Wagner and I’m the Marketing Manager at BioBag. BioBag is the world’s largest brand of certified compostable bags and films made from the material, Mater-Bi. Mater-Bi’s ingredients consist of starches derived from plants, vegetable oils, and compostable polymers from both renewable raw materials and fossil raw materials. No polyethylene is used in the production process. BioBag products meet ASTM D6400 specifications and our company fully supports California Law regarding biodegradable and compostable product claims. As I became more and more aware of how much waste individuals, companies and our country produces, I felt inspired to work for a company whose mission is focused on landfill diversion and composting.

Question #2: If you were stranded on a desert island and were allowed to take only 5 items with you (they can be food, books or specific products that are all health-related), what would they be and why?

1. A How To Survive Alone In The Wilderness Book – reason is self explanatory
2. The World’s largest lighter – I know I have my survival guide but one thing I don’t want to ever worry about it making fire. Fire is of course a life force when you don’t have electricity.
3. A pocket knife – again one of those pertinent things needed for survival.
4. A toothbrush – nothing makes me feel worse than having that fuzzy feeling on my teeth
5. Notebook with Pencil – To keep myself sane along with keeping a calendar. I’d have this as a diary to count the number of days I’ve been there plus it would be great to catalog all my experiences. Who knows, someone might find it and it could be published one day.

Question #3: What one message do you want to share with the people of this world that is crucial for their ultimate well-being and longevity?

Find something to be passionate about. Passion is what makes one love harder, laugh louder and be the best person they can be. I feel anyone that is truly happy has to be content with who they are, has to have love in the life as well as their heart and has to able to laugh even during hard times. This person will give as much as they receive, be able to get through anything and enjoy the gift of life.

Questions #4: If someone could afford to purchase only one product at this moment to start their journey towards better health (food or health-related), what would you recommend and why?

Professionally I would say BioBags! Collecting and composting all your organic waste (which is estimated about 30% of all we throw away) would make a monumental impact on the environment. Compost is a natural, chemical-free fertilizer. More natural fertilizers = better land to grow = healthier foods.

Personally I would say a refillable water bottle like a SIGG or Klean Kanteen. Not only is our bodies made up of 70% water and water is what we all need water just to live but water purifies us, detoxes us and cleanses us. Water also regulate body temperature, provides the means for nutrients to travel to your organs and tissues, transports oxygen to your cells and protects your joints and organs. I don’t think the majority of us are getting enough water. We fill our bodies with overly caffeinated, carbonated and syrupy beverages that make our kidneys work over time. Plus, getting copious amounts of water leads to the better looking skin. You also will feel and look amazing.

Question #5: Tell me more about your business/company and/or products you offer to the public to help them achieve optimal health and well-being?

BioBag offers a wide variety of bags to collect your organic waste, divert it from landfills and turn it into compost. Our bags are certified compostable by the Biodegradable Products Institute. BioBag also strongly supports the use of GMO free certified crops and participates in a source offset program with our suppliers. We manufacture compostable plastic shopping bags, 3 gallon food scrap collection bags, tall kitchen bags, lawn & leaf bags, pet waste bags and SOON sandwich bags and cling wrap. Our bags are formulated to be composted and consumed by the same microorganisms that digest other organic waste. We also make a Max Air food scrap collection bucket to help with the collection of kitchen waste as well as to eliminate the ICK of doing so.

Feel free to check out our website for more information on our products, our certifications, specials, where you can purchase BioBags, tips on composting, blogs, articles about BioBag, our facebook, our newsletter and more.

Question #6: What are your hopes/aspirations/dreams for the future health of the people and the planet?

I feel the catalysts for a lot of our problems and the world’s problems are greed, entitlement, lack of responsibility and discernment. As a society we need to band together to reduce these catalysts especially in terms of how much we waste and unconcern ourselves about it. We are so accustomed to throwing away what is not needed and not even thinking about it. Where does all of this that I’m throwing away going? Why should I care that I’m sending tons of discarded materials to landfills? Let’s focus on only buying what is needed and what we do have as waste, let’s recycle and compost as much as well can. Our society in general is VERY wasteful. My hope is for us to be more conscious of what we purchase, the impact that will have in our lives now and the impact it will have on our planet in the future. Specifically, my dream for the future is that all cities, businesses and individuals achieve zero waste.

Question #7: Who is your greatest hero and why?

I don’t have a single biggest/greatest hero but more like a collection of “normal” people I meet or observe on a day to day basis. Yes, there are many notable activists, scholars and leaders that have changed society for the good but the people I truly find heroic are the everyday individuals that take the time to make a change in their lives or in the lives of others they come across. There is so much to say and admire in daily humility, kindness and love.

Question #8: Is there anything else you would like to share with the public?

I want people to know that BioBag and myself really CARE about our products and our mission. If any of our customers or future customers ever have any questions, concerns or comments, we are here to listen and respond to them. Anyone can contact us at or 727-789-1646. During normal business hours, you’ll get an actual LIVE person and we will respond to everyone! Together we are Changing the World Without Changing the Earth.
