My Cleansing Repertoire – Using Mineral-Rich Water Reactions and Results
I have done many types of cleanses/fasts since 2004, after reading “The Miracle of Fasting,” by Paul and Patricia Bragg. This one is totally different in its beginning phase, as I decided I would like to try drinking water that is mineral-rich and comes directly from nature, in its pristine, pure state and also has a higher alkaline pH then most people get when they filter their water (also most water filters, unless they are “super” expensive don’t get the fluoride out (which has been added recently to San Diego (where I reside) and probably various other things. My friend, Todd, who is also the Southwestern Sales Manager for this water (no he did not influence me to use this water for my cleanse, I tried a bottle he gave me a month ago). As I am a true purist, I wanted to use this Volcanic Mineral Refresher (volcanicmineralrefresher.com), to see if I feel any different then when I have used my filtered water in the past for fasting/cleansing. I can tell you, that when I first tried it, it tasted sweeter because of the naturally occurring minerals and I liked it.
I will document when I drank the water and how much of it I consumed per day, so you will have an idea of how my body works (I stress, my body, because everyone is different and since I have been doing this a long time I may drink less then others do per day, but please listen to your own body and drink as much as you need to stay on the cleanse/fast).
When I do my cleanses, I refrain from doing any intense exercise/activity. I stick to walking and some stretching. I prefer to give my body a rest and resume my regular routine once I have started my food consumption.
I advise you to educate yourselves adequately and seek advise from a qualified health professional/specialist before embarking on any program like this, especially if you have any current conditions and have never fasted/cleansed before. I recommend trying it for one day a week if you are starting out. My first 3 days using Volcanic Mineral Refresher Only
Day 1- Thursday February 23. 2012
Today was the first day of my cleanse. Lately, when I do my quarterly cleanse, I usually use my filtered water with stevia and coconut water from Day 1. This time, I am doing only water and I would call it a fast. The pH of this water is 7.24 – if you are not aware of it. I was not thirsty right away in the morning and did not start drinking till 10:30am. From my first drink of this water, it was sweet, fresh and smooth; the way water is supposed to taste like! I don’t think I will want to go back to drinking from my “filter,” once I am done with this cleanse. I did do a comparison taste test when I first tried this water and I can say, hands-down, this was much better.
I did some cleaning around my place and went for a walk.
For your own reference, each glass bottle has a total of 25.4 oz.
Consumption for the day: Total – 38.5 oz (close to 5 cups)
10:30 am – 3:30 pm – 1 bottle
5 pm – 7:30 pm – ½ bottle
As you can see, I did not drink that much water today and most times when I start my cleanse I do a dry fast – no food or water – for a day or longer (again, I don’t recommend you do this, if you have never done so and only under supervision). I found that I was satisfied with the amount I drank and did not feel hungry at all (I also have a very strong mind and willpower to “stick” with what I plan on doing.
Day 2- Friday February 24. 2012
Today, I started my consumption of water somewhat earlier and desired more. For me, it is more about the farther I get away from the last food I consumed (which was Wednesday evening, February 22nd), the more I need something (in this case, the water), to “fill in” for my lack of food. I still felt OK with no issues in my head (i.e. some people develop a headache when they stop eating food, especially in the first few days, as the body and mind need to create a syncronicity of adapting to life without food). When I drank my filtered water to start, I did still have some “heady” issues, so to speak, so this is definitely a positive result. I believe it is due to the naturally occurring minerals which keep the body more alkaline and able to compensate well for the lack of nourishment in the form of food.
I did not go out for a walk today because it was mostly cloudy. I did clean my apartment – dusting and floors.
Consumption for the day: Total – 64.1 oz (8 cups)
9:45 am – 11:10 am – ½ bottle
11:40 am – 2 pm – 1 bottle
2:30 pm – 5:40 pm – 1 bottle
Day 3- Saturday February 25, 2012
Today, I started drinking the water at the same time as yesterday, but was feeling more sluggish/lethargic I therefore did best for myself by consuming more water. Again, I had no headache or felt the need/desire to eat any food (I still have lots of fruit in my fridge for consumption after I complete this cleanse, but it is not tempting to me at all and again, I do have strong(er) will power then most!). Since, my energy was lower today, I did rest/nap some in the afternoon (important to listen to your body signals and adjust accordingly) and that helped, too.
I went for a walk today, but was shorter then usual because there was a cool wind blowing and I felt chilly (this happens, especially when you are not doing exercise that raises your heart rate)
Consumption for the day: Total – 76.4 oz (~9 ½ cups)
9:45 am – 12 pm – 1 bottle
12:30 pm – 4:30 pm – 1 bottle
6 pm – 9 pm – 1 bottle
As you can notice yourselves, there was an increase from the first day to the third day of this fast. I felt like I hydrated my body very well and don’t believe it would likely be such with my filtered water (I would also have to add stevia, which has minerals when I drink it because I don’t care for the taste that much). Years ago, I did a 3 week cleanse, in which the first week was drinking water only with nothing in it and I did it. I honestly do not think I could do that again. With this mineralized water, I know I can! In the future, I may even try a longer water only fast since this works much better for me.
The next phase of this cleanse will be another 3 days on water only from another source. It is pure and in its pristine state with a pH of 8.76. It will be very interesting to see if I feel any differences in my body compared to the 7.24 pH water I have been drinking thus far.
